Story
The team reached the top early last week! They texted us back here in the UK: "We all got to the top today :) one of the hardest things all of us have ever done! But we're glad we've done it!"
They're back down now, and all very happy and satisified with their achievement. Thank you all for your support, and any last support and congratulations you want to give.
The money is crucial support for our worldwide co-ordinators - they're up against global recession at the grassroots of some of the world's poorest countries - so the motivation is there in bucket loads.
The climbers mostly work at Mothers' Union's London office. They've seen first hand over the last few months that the needs are escalating, and they wanted to do something about it. None of them are hardened climbers - they normally work on government lobbying, campaigns, and literacy work. But they gave up their desks to tackle Kilimanjaro's giant form for Mothers' Union! They stepped up to the climb of a lifetime - now they just need your support. Please click to sponsor them now.
Kilimanjaro is 5,895 metres high. 19,341 feet. Four times as high as Ben Nevis. Five times as high as Mount Snowdon. A 6 day climb - 6446ft/1965m per day.One of the tallest mountains in the world, (from bottom to top, it's probably The Tallest In The World), Kilimanjaro is no mean feat - but Mothers' Union is no mean cause.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. They don't sell your details on on or send you random emails. They send your money direct to Mothers' Union and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed if it's eligible.
