Story
‘You want to try and live your life like it’s the last day – basically we try and do that every single day’ Dan, Sam and Tom Lloyd
Our Mural Wall has been inspired by the boys outlook on life. The Lloyd Boys all have the genetic muscle wasting condition, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but despite this, they have inspired the teaching staff and their fellow pupils with their simple ‘Determination’ in everything they have achieved. The staff wanted to find a way to commemorate the time the boys have spent at Mosslands and leave a lasting relic as they graduate from this major part of their lives.
The Mural Wall, along with inspiration from the boys favourite artist Michael Craig-Martin, was deemed the perfect way to do this. This is very much led by the boys themselves; they have chosen the word and the artwork design to ensure this is truly their stamp at Mosslands.
The boys story is well known in the Wirral and rightly so; we aim for the Mural Wall to collaborate all of the wonderful supporters the boys have into a project that is to celebrate achieving the milestone of completing school.
The boys and their parents ask that the donations made are contributed to Claire House Children’s Hospice. The boys have been using Claire House for the majority of their lives for respite care. Keeping in line with the boys outlook Claire House aims to enrich the quality of lives of all the children that attend. At Claire House the boys have met their Liverpool Football Club hero’s, sat in the X Factor Audience and been interviewed on ITV’s Day Break.
We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching the boys during their time at Mosslands and their personalities will be missed around the school.
