The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Too many of my dear friends, relatives and colleagues have been, or are living with, the unforgiving disease that is cancer.

This is why, on Saturday 1st June 2013, I will be climbing Mount Snowdon in North Wales to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity to help them to continue to provide such a wide range of services to people who are living with cancer.

My walk is for so many people - for Florence, Dawn, Steven, Angela, Naheed's mum, Frances, Lynn, Pat, Elaine, David, another Monica ... You will be able to add your own loved and remembered ones to this list.

I am pleased and privileged to be doing the Snowdon walk with 50 other people, most of whom are living with cancer, in memory of Karen Goodwin, who got close to the summit in June 2011 but was beaten back by bad weather and, not long after, by cancer itself.

So - your support, please! At 60 years of age my stamina isn't what it used to be ... but with your help I'll get there!

Please donate, however large or small - and please GIFT AID your donation if you can. Thank you.
