Story

Our whole world was turned upside down in February 2014 when my Dad was diagnosed with a glioblastoma grade 4 brain tumour. During the months after his diagnosis, I watched the strongest man in my life deteriorate into someone I no longer recognised. In the May of 2015 he lost his battle with brain cancer. He was only 47 and my twin brother and I were just 16. His loss has had and continues to have a devastating impact on the lives of everybody who knew and loved him. Nobody deserves to go through what my family and I, especially my Dad, who should have had so much more life to lead and memories to make with us.

I am running the Leeds Half Marathon in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity. Hopefully the money I raise will help those suffering as well as provide support for families and loved ones who have also been affected by this illness. This is just my story, many others have suffered, are suffering and will suffer, which is why any donation is greatly appreciated. Hopefully one day, maybe even in my lifetime, we will find a cure so nobody else has to suffer in the way my Dad did.

The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours, making a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. We fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for everyone affected to improve quality of life. We are committed to having the biggest possible impact for every person affected by a brain tumour, and to defending the most amazing part of the human body.
