Story

Is beag pobal a thug oiread do mhuintir Bhéal Feirste agus a thug muinti na nOilean Filipíneach. Mar sin de, is cóir go seasaimís leis an phobal uasal sin, ar chuid de theaghlach Bhéal Feirste iad, in am an ghatair. Cuireann Tíofún Haiyan úafás agus scanradh orainn ach spreagann sé muid fosta le tacú leis na hiarrachtaí eigendála le tionchar na tubáiste a mhaolú agus leis na hiarrachtaí fóirithinte a láidriú. Ar maidin bhuail mé leis an phobal Fhilipíneach atá faoi bhrón agus gheall dóibh go ndéanfainn mo dhícheall ar a son. Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.

No community has made a more substantial contribution to the people of Belfast than the Filipinio community - indeed, there is hardly a sick, infirm or vulnerable person in our hospitals or care homes who hasn't experienced the kindness and generosity of the people of the Phillipines who have come to our city in large numbers to work, especially, in the caring professions. In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, therefore, it is important that we do all we can to help the aid agencies in their emergency relief work in the Phillipines. I have made my own modest contribution to the DEC emergency fund and am asking you to get involved by helping me meet my Movember target of £300 with  the proceeds going to Trócaire Phillipines Appeal.
