Story

I lost my wonderful wife, Pam, to ovarian cancer aged just 65.

During the course of her illness, I learned how critical it is to fund research projects into this remorseless disease so that more and better treatments will become available for women with ovarian cancer in the future. Pam survived for over six years after her diagnosis. Mercifully, she was able to lead a full and normal life until shortly before she died, but without continual medical advances, that would have been unlikely.

I want to keep pushing medical advances forward to enable more women to access better treatment. So In memory of Pam I am raising money for an immunotherapy research project led by Dr Martin Miller at the University of Cambridge which is being funded by Target Ovarian Cancer.

To do this, I will be undertaking  The Tube Challenge on 21 December 2019 under which I'll travel to all 270 London Underground stations in one day. The record for completing the challenge is around 16 hours but my focus is entirely on raising money, not breaking records. I want to raise £20,000 for Target Ovarian Cancer.

This is a very ambitious target and so I will need all the help I can get . I am therefore delighted that my cousin, Stephen Bright and friend, Kevin Maddison, will be undertaking the entire challenge with me while other friends and family will join me at various times throughout the day.

We shall also use the challenge to raise awareness about ovarian cancer by wearing t - shirts which display the symptoms.
