Update - 2nd June 2011
We completed the ride, and what a fantastic experience it was. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me, and thanks to everyone who made the ride possible and fun. In particular, a big thanks to Ken and Ann (support team for week 1) and Tina and Mark (support team for week 2). Thanks also to those who joined us for a day or two or three along the way - it was great to have your company.

A group of 7 of us from work will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats - i.e. the length of Britain, in May/June this year. Known as LEJOG (JOGLE is doing it from north to south), our planned route is around 970 miles, with a total of over 10 miles of ascent. That's almost twice the height of Mount Everest.
We're taking 11 days to do it (plus one rest day in the middle), so our average distance each day will be 88 miles (142 km).
We're each riding for our own chosen charity, and I have picked The Prostate Cancer Charity who are the main sponsors for the Tour of Britain cycle race http://www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/fundraising/event/tour-ride.
I've set a fund raising target of £1 per mile - so that's £970 in total.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
