Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, it is ten years since John was diagnosed with MND, and within four months he passed away on 9th August 2002. Funding for researching this devastating disease is crucial as very little is known about its causes. Equally important is the support a sufferer and his family receives through dwindling NHS resources and the MNDA.This support makes an immense difference to their comfort and quality of life during this difficult time and we are so grateful to everyone who was involved in this. We decided to mark the tenth anniversary of John's death by choosing a challenge that would be a real test of our endurance and commitment and would in some way make us appreciate the much harder physical and mental struggle faced by MND sufferers. The Machu Picchu Challenge involves a four day trek ascending at altitudes of over 4000 metres with hot day time temperatures and sleeping in tents with night time temperatures at freezing point, before reaching the amazing lost city of the Incas. 

We hope to raise at least £1000 by doing this, and every penny donated will go to the MNDA charity.
