Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of you will be aware that I am going to Kenya in February 2012 with a team from the charity Cricket Without Boundaries hopefully to make a difference to the lives of children like the ones you see in the attached photos.
Cricket Without Boundaries is a UK based charity dedicated to educating and helping communities throughout the world through cricket. We will be visiting schools, orphanages and children's groups to help deliver AIDS awareness messages through cricket coaching and also working with Kenyan trainee coaches help them to do the same once we have left. In Sub-Saharan Africa alone there are 22.5 million people with HIV, with 1.3 million adult and child deaths from AIDS in 2010. A large number of the infected are children, many of whom are in cricket- playing nations in Africa.
I am sure some of you are wandering whether it is safe for someone to take on this role when their cricketing predigree only extends to 3 trips to Lords and garden cricket with any number of chidlren from my extended family!! Be reassured though that a number of qualified tutors and coaches will be with us and I am sure by the time I return I will be an expert in all things cricket and will no longer need an interpreter!!
Each of the team has a target to raise money to support the work of the charity. I appreciate this probably isn't the best time of year to be asking for charity donations but if you are able to contribute in any small or large way it would be greatly appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks in advance
