Story
We are raising monies for Wirral Autisic Life Time appeal to help secure a new 8 bedroom complex offering 24 hr care for Autistic people.
Autism is a lifelong developmental condition which results in people with autism needing support in relation to:
- social interaction (eg developing social relationships, and developing empathy for others),
- social communication (eg developing verbal and non verbal communication, understanding facial expressions, body language and tone of voice)
- social imagination (eg developing a range of interests rather than having a limited interest/obsession, developing coping strategies at times of minor change which can cause high anxiety)
- Sensory processing (eg understanding the impact of being either hyper or hypo sensitive to heat, light, noise, taste and smell which can again cause heightened anxiety)
No two people with autism are affected the same way, so at Wirral Autistic Society they work with each individual person to help them overcome or soften the impact of these difficulties, to enable the person to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.
In order for them to continue the original vision of their founding parents and expand their support for the growing demand needed across all of the uk, they now need to completely redevelop their residential services on the Raby Hall site. the key to this is the construction of a brand new 8 bedded residential unit that will offer 24 hr care and support changing not only Autistic peoples lives but also their families
To help us raise monies along with my son Daniel I intent to complete the BT 26 Mile 3 peaks fell waliking competion on June 8th. We aim to complete the hike in less than 5 hrs
