Lands End to John O'Groats

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Few people can be unaware of the devasting earthquake and tsunami which hit northern Japan on 11 March. The huge quake, the worst in recorded history, caused an horrific tidal wave, which has virtually wiped-out many communities. The tsunami is known to have killed more than 20,000 people, a total which is still rising. Hundreds of thousands are now homeless, amongst whom are an army of orphaned children who desparately need our help.
Four friends of mine are mad enough to set themselves the challenge to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats starting on June 18th 2011. I get the easy job of helping by driving the support vehicle for the Scottish section and we are fortunate to have sponsorship from Mitsubishi UK at Cirencester (plug:-)) who have loaned us a vehicle. We in our turn are delighted to be raising money for their chosen charity Save the Children. We are self funding our trip so all of the money you can kindly donate will go via this site directly to the Save the Children charity. If you can tick the box for gift aid that makes it worth even more and anything you can give large or small will be much appreciated.

Alastair has also set up a blog which is much more fun. You can follow the exploits day by day as the journey evolves and are encouraged to add your comments. I know that will encourage the “bums on seats” to keep going on this rather gruelling adventure. They are a very determined foursome and I have no doubt they will have their photos for John O’Groats to add to the collection.
