In recent years I have become fairly lazy and somewhat selfish; in 2014 I plan to address this by being more athletic and by taking part in a number of events to improve my fitness, whilst also doing something selfless; I can think of no greater motivator than the hope of helping young children.

Becoming a father has sparked my awareness of the needs of less privileged and disadvantaged children. Circumstances beyond our control often lead to children being born requiring special care and attention, and it is my belief that all children, regardless of illness or condition, deserve to have the happiest and fullest childhood we can give them. In order to support this and hopefully provide some young ones with an easier time and/or happier memories, The Teddy Bear Foundation (www.theteddybearfoundation.org) will be the recipients of any and all donations I achieve.

I have decided to take part in this year's Spartan Sprint race, held in our capital city on September 21st. This is Spartan's entry level event consisting of a 5k mixed with 15 obstacles to overcome throughout. This race will be undertaken on behalf of The Teddy Bear Foundation.
