Mehma's FAST24

FAST24 · 20 November 2015
This year, I have chosen to fast for 24 hours from the 20th to the 21st of November, 2015, to help children in Yemen who are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. As the crisis in Yemen continues to intensify, nearly 8 children are either killed or injured EVERY DAY, an alarming 1.8 million can't go to school due to the prevailing conditions, while the number of children recruited/used in the conflict has doubled.
Moreover, four years of unrest has left these children in urgent need of food, water & medical supplies: now the situation has worsened due to fierce fighting & heavy airstrikes, while 1.8 million remain at risk of becoming malnourished. Due to food shortages in the country, nutrition supplies are rapidly depleting & need to be replenished in most health facilities.
However, UNICEF is responding to the urgent needs of these people by working hard to ensure that almost 1,250 tonnes of lifesaving supplies have been delivered to Yemen since March. In addition, UNICEF-supported schools & child-friendly spaces allow children to continue their lessons & learn how to keep safe from unexploded weapons & landmines. But this is not enough! More affected families need to be reached, and in order to do so, UNICEF needs your help. I urge you to donate to this noble cause, so that together we can save every child in danger.
