Story

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is a charity that is very close to our own hearts and raising £5000 needs an event worthy of your kind donations.

The Marathon des Sables (MdS) is supposed to be the 'TOUGHEST FOOTRACE ON EARTH', so we figured why not?!

The MdS is a 7day / 150+mile endurance race across the Sahara Desert.

To make things that little bit harder it's self-supported so we have to carry everything they will need for the duration (apart from a tent - thanks!) on our backs in a rucksack (food, clothes, medical kit, sleeping bag etc). Water is rationed and handed out at each checkpoint and mid-day temperatures can reach 120°F!

On the 4th day, competitors will aim to complete a 50+ mile single stage. Few people complete this before dark that evening and some will not come in till after dark the next night! This is followed by the 26mile Marathon stage which won't hurt!!

Like we said, a big target needs a big challenge.  Please support us in running this race.

Many thanks, Simon, Mark & Jarlath

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.
