Story
I have been given the opportunity to trek up and summit Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa and I hope you will be able to sponsor me.
The trek is completely self-funded with every penny raised through my sponsorship going directly to The Lewis Moody Foundation, a charity set up by rugby legend Lewis Moody to raise money to fund vital research into brain tumours, reduce diagnosis times through the HeadSmart campaign and give families affected much needed respite and the chance to create special memories.
I am not quite 40 years old but have already had friends and colleagues diagnosed with cancer at very young ages and brain tumours remain the most common form of terminal cancer diagnosed in people under 40. Every penny raised goes directly to The Foundation.
The climb itself is an 8 day trek up the north face of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is a more remote but less trodden route avoiding the crowds and letting us make a rare daylight summit of this epic mountain. This trek will not only provide a great physical and mental challenge to me personally as Mt. Kilimanjaro peaks at 5,895m or 19,340ft (1/2 a kilometre above Everest Base Camp!) but more importantly summiting this special mountain will raise essential money for for The Lewis Moody Foundation. I genuinely see this as the opportunity of a lifetime with our fundraising helping to support essential research into brain tumours and those families so devastatingly affected.
Please support me if you can as every penny counts and will help me get through this epic challenge. Thank you.
