Story
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page!
I have the honour of being invited by my good friend the Dark Lord, Alexander Milas and Rod Smallwood (legendary manager of the mighty Iron Maiden) to join with the elite brotherhood of the Heavy Metal Truants and undertake the ride from London to Castle Donington to the Download Festival.
I’m a five year veteran!
I’m a year older!
I’m a year creakier!
It's 168 miles of hills, strains, blisters, nettles, gruelling rain, gruelling hail and gruelling sun (ie it’s all gruelling!) and more hills through the English Countryside and whatever the English Summer has in store for us to our festival nirvana, where 90,000 of our closest friends wait for us. This
isn't easy, my friends. And we are so dedicated to the truth that we don't
make it look easy, either. Not in the least!
I’ve also been lucky enough to become a member of the Heavy Metal Truants committee, so understand even more the VITAL work our three
charities undertake to help children who truly need it. It’s heartbreaking
to see, and makes me and the rest of the black peleton all the more
determined to do our best for them all.
The three charities I'm supporting are:
- Nordoff Robbins
- Teenage Cancer Trust
- Childline
Your support in this adventure would be so appreciated, not only by me personally but by all those that will benefit from the funds raised.
Give what you can (don't forget the gift aid!) - any amount is
appreciated, it truly is.
Thanks so much

Donating through JustGiving is simple,
fast and totally secure.
Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send
unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the
charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK
taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst
saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Nordoff Robbins is the largest independent music therapy charity in the UK, dedicated to changing the lives of vulnerable and isolated people. It supports thousands of people in its own centres and by working in partnership with a wide range of organisations including care homes, schools and hospitals. When delivered by a trained practitioner, music therapy can help a child with autism to communicate, reduce anxiety for those living with dementia or provide comfort and celebrate the life of someone facing terminal illness.
