Story

72 miles, 5 days, 2 sore feet..

On Saturday 23rd June, I will walk out of my front door and not return for FIVE WHOLE DAYS. This is quite unusual for me (I don't get out much), and I will of course miss the safety of the four white walls (and the off-white chimney breast) I am used to. During these five days, I will be walking the Kirklees Way (not to be confused with the Lambeth Walk - it's much less jaunty). The walk takes in the 72 miles around the perimeter of Kirklees, which "takes walkers through quaint villages, moorland, woodland and past many historical sites, some linked to the Brontes." (so it says on the website).

I will attempt to sleep in various places along the route (hopefully in local hostelries with bar facilities), and will be doing all of this in aid of The National Literacy Trust and their work with schools and libraries. You can find more details of the great work they do at their website http://www.literacytrust.org.uk

I will also be tweeting, facebooking and anything else my phone battery will allow along the route. If you are able to make a donation to this cause I will be very grateful, and any contributions will be valuable in helping to promote, encourage and provide literacy support to people of all ages who need it the most.

Thanks for your support

Mark
