Story
Craig was one of the most talented and charming people I have ever known. In 2005, in the space of a few short weeks, Craig had signed a professional football contract, received an unconditional offer to study Architecture at Edinburgh Uni and passed his driving test. All before his 18th birthday! But tragically, on July 8th 2005 he died in a training ground accident two weeks into his professional contract at Falkirk FC. Craig was an inspiration to so many, including myself, and he achieved more in 17 years than most people achieve in a life time.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Craig’s death, me and 35 other friends and family members are attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest 11-a-side football match, by playing for 100 hours (4 days!). This is comparable to running 6 marathons in 4 days.
The money raised will help fund a state of the art Snoezelen room in Craig’s name at the new Sick Kids hospital at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This is a calming room with multi-sensory equipment to provide a relaxing and stimulating space, important for children with sensory impairments.
