Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It is just over 4 years ago that I first set up a JustGiving sponsorship page, having been coerced into running the first York 10k.  As you will no I was not a runner but with the support of my 'manager', Sal, I not only achieved what I thought was a respectable time, I actually enjoyed it!

 

I was determined to beat my 1st 10k time the following year but, at the time, had no thoughts to run any longer distance and certainly had no desire to run a half-marathon, let alone the full 26 miles; quite frankly the domain of nutters (can I say that?) and masochists.

 

Well, having steadily increased my stamina and distance in training, last September I entered my first half-marathon.  Again I achieved a respectable time and I thought, 'hmm, I actually enjoyed that too'.  So, I had a new distance to aim towards improving my time for but still my views of marathon runners had not altered.

 

Well then, what happened?  I am still a little unsure to be honest - I hadn't even been drinking.  The 1st Yorkshire Marathon was announced and, on an irrational impulse, I decided it was now or never anyway, with the start being only a mile or so away from home, I could always take a short-cut home!

 

Time has marched on and, again, thanks to my manager I am on track with my training plan.  It is early September and I have run 15 miles; it was tough and my next target of 18 miles seems unattainable, let alone the full distance - and my opinion of marathon runners is now confirmed; however, my efforts will be worth it if I can acheive my fund raising target and help make a difference.
