Marjory's page

Thanks for taking the time to visit Marjory's JustGiving page.
Throughout her 97 years, Marjory was typical of that age group, having been brought up to appreciate the simple things in life. Indeed, growing up in the twenties & thirties in any fishing community, often meant making do with what they could, just to get by.
She never shirked hard work, and spent the war years in Bristol (a long way from her Brixham home!), working in a munitions factory.
Post-war, her grit and determination saw her having two (day & night) jobs for a few years - when her husband George's foot was crushed by a rail wagon, at a time when sick pay didn't exist, as we know it today.
Fiercely loyal, she would strive to ensure the family never went without, and despite her small frame of 5 foot height and just 7 stone, she was certainly a force to be reckoned with!
Fortunately, throughout her life she kept fit & well, and only had one major trip to hospital when bitten by a bee, during her 40's! Again typical of that generation, when fresh air & exercise was often prescribed as the solution for most ailments!
Renowned for her mischievous sense of humour, it was Dementia that ultimately got the better of her personality and strong heart. That's why we chose Dementia UK to support ongoing research into this invidious disease - and where YOU can HELP, too!
In lieu of flowers, and for those who cannot join us at the Weston Mill Crematorium, Plymouth on 3rd Feb. 2022 @ 1.15pm, we are raising money for Dementia UK.
