Story

IMPORTANT!!!!!! justgiving.com is not set up to allow you to donate to more than one charity on one page. Please PLEASE, if you are considering a very kind donation, I would be so grateful if you could split whatever amount you're considering in two so that Taylan's Project (Brain Tumour Research) and Rennie Grove Hospice (for Bridgette) get equal donations.

To visit Rennie Grove Hospice Care page to donate for Bridgette please click here: http://www.justgiving.com/MarchinMenorcaforBridgette

What am I up to this time?

Having lost two beautiful people to aggressive brain tumours, I felt I had to do something.  Something to challenge myself and hopefully encourage you to think it worthy of a little bit of your wonga.  On 22nd March 2014 I'm hiking the entire coastline of the beautiful Spanish Island of Menorca.  Find out all about it in the little movie I've made to tell you what, where and why:

TAYLAN

Taylan was just 7 years old when he lost his battle with an inoperable brain tumour in 2009.  Taylan was a good friend to my son Jay, they played as toddlers, had snowball fights, enjoyed days out and went to school together.  Taylan was thoughtful, caring, sweet and sincere.  He was a wonderful big brother to his two younger brothers who idolised him. Losing Taylan rocked our community and we miss him so much. Taylan's Project, a charity set up by Taylan's parents Andy & Figen, is raising crucial funds for research into this devastating form of cancer.  To read more about Taylan's story please visit their site: www.taylansproject.com.

BRIDGETTE

Bridgette Mapp lost her battle with an aggressive form of brain tumour in June last year.  Bridgette was a beautiful soul, amazing wife to Richard and loving Mum to Emily, Victoria and Harrison.  I knew Bridgette and Richard through playing softball with them back in the 90's.  I remember Bridgette sending me a message when I did Kilimanjaro for Taylan - she said I'd 'breeze it'!  When I sat in the church at Bridgette's funeral I was completely overwhelmed and couldn't fathom what was happening.  I made the decision right there and then to take action and do something to show the family how much their Bridgette meant to us all, how much she was loved & admired.  Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, now Rennie Grove Hospice Care is very close to the Mapp Family's heart and they provided the most wonderful care at such a difficult time.  Please support them in the awe inspiring work they do for our community.  Here's some more: http://www.renniegrove.org/

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
