Story
Nushka, along with her Guide Dog owner, Janette, Ali, Cath, Colette, Karen B, Karen W and Sue all make up the Major Donor Darlings.
We're going to be completing a 17k bike ride, (which means stint on a tandem for Janette & Colette and could be quite entertaining!), a 10k hike up the Old Man of Coniston and a 3k canoe.
We have to raise £2500 for Guide Dogs and really need all the support we can get so if you can please sponsor us now!
It costs almost £1 million each week to run the Guide Dogs service. When someone becomes a guide dog owner, Guide Dogs make a commitment to provide them with a dog for life – once people have experienced the difference a dog makes to their freedom of movement, they generally want to stick with it. Each dog they provide costs over £40,000 in the course of its lifetime. Each new guide dog owner only pays 50p so that no one is prevented from having a guide dog due to their financial circumstances. It is not unusual for a guide dog owner to have 7 or 8 dogs in their lifetime. You can start to see it soon adds up. Here are some more affordable examples of what your donation could pay for….
£10 could feed a guide dog for 2 weeks
£20 could buy a training harness
£30 could pay for a veterinary consultation
£60 could buy a harness, lead, collar and bell for a guide dog
£150 could provide puppy scales
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guide Dogs gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
