Story

So, I've written a recipe book about Mac 'n' Cheese called Macarunni Cheese, as a way of raising money for the Outward Bound Trust, who I will be running for at the London Marathon 2016! What started off as a foolish and ridiculous idea has turned into something real, but still equally foolish.

For information on buying the book, please carefully read the options directly below! Click 'read more of my story' to see in full. Beneath the options you can read more about why the dickens I'm doing all of this!

Option A) If you donate between £10.00 - £19.99, you can receive an e-book version of my recipe book: Macarunni Cheese! 100% of your donation will go to my fundraising efforts. Please share your email address when making a donation, and I will send you the e-book (in PDF format) in return! If you choose this option, you CAN NOT select Gift Aid when making the donation, as me giving you something in return means Gift Aid cannot be paid.

Option B) I have print copies of my recipe book: Macarunni Cheese available to buy! To receive a print copy, the donation needs to be £20 or greater. This is important: I either need the donation in person [cash], or through my PayPal.Me page, here:

https://www.paypal.me/DaveReynolds

The reason for this is the books cost £6.40 each to print, and this cost will be taken from your donation, and then added to this Just Giving page as an offline donation. Any questions on any of this, you can message me here, or email me at macarunnicheese@gmail.com. If you choose this option, you CAN NOT select Gift Aid when making the donation, as me giving you something in return means Gift Aid cannot be paid.

Option C) Donate! Perhaps you aren't interested in receiving the book, and just want to contribute to the cause, and for the fact that I'm going to drag my bones 26.2 miles for The Outward Bound Trust! If you donate and don't want a copy of the book, you can select Gift Aid in the donation.

Why Mac 'n' Cheese?

Well, I love Mac 'n' Cheese. Even after months of developing recipes and eating more cheese than any human should. My obsession started following a work trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in February 2014. The weather was frightful, but the Mac 'n' Cheese, oh so delightful. I came back to the UK and wanted to make some for myself. I started making it for friends in the summer to bring to BBQ's, and everything just went a little crazy from there!

What for?

So this story ties in with my desire to run the London Marathon. I ran the Edinburgh Mararthon in 2012, and after crossing the line, said: "Never again." But as the pain faded and the pride lingers on, I've been itching to do another. I tried entering the ballot twice, but no luck. So I decided to run for a charity, meaning I need to raise quite a bit of money. Rather than just pestering the usual friends and family for donations, I wanted to be able to offer something in return for their donations - namely, this book.

But best of all, I decided to run for Outward Bound Trust. I left the UK at 18 after my A Levels to work in Canada as a volunteer for Outward Bound Canada. Their ethos is to provide empowerment and leadership to people through experiential education - namely, outdoor adventures. The great irony is that I went there to help others achieve this, and ended up being completely and utterly transformed by my experiences there. I'm so proud to have worked with such a fantastic organisation, and I'm so keen to help provide much needed funding for this vital not-for-profit organisation.

How did I make this book?

I ate a lot of Mac 'n' Cheese. I tried a lot of recipes. I really wanted to create recipes that haven't been done before. My housemates may have considered getting me sectioned at one point or another (particularly after the onion bhaji Mac 'n' Cheese recipe). The nice people at Blurb provided me with the software to make the book. I took all the photos myself, all from items or surfaces inside my house just off Cowley Road. I've daydreamed about Mac 'n' Cheese for almost a year, and I'm pleased that monkey is just about off my back, and soon onto yours!

What's next?

Buy this book. Or just donate. Tell your friends. Tell your pets. Tell your family. The wider this gets shared, the easier it'll be for me to meet my target. I'm planning to hold some local events in the next six months to help raise more funds, so keep your eyes peeled for that (and those updates will be posted here).
