Story
Well this is by far my biggest ever challenge - three events covering 108 miles!!
The first event is the "London Marathon" on 21st April 2013 - no explantion needed. http://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/
COMPLETED - 3hrs 31min
The second event is "The Wall" on 22nd June 2013 - this is a gruelling 69 mile ultra marathon, linking the two cities of Carlisle and Newcastle - running along Hadrians Wall. I will be running this with my old friend Alick Forrester (another crazy man and seasoned triathlete and iron man competitor), the race can be run in one day or split over two days - we will be running it in one day! http://www.thewallrun.com/
COMPLETED - 15hrs 12min
The third event is "The Great West Run" on 13th October 2013 - this is a half marathon around the city of Exeter. I have added this event as it is local and very special to THHN, because we have been selected to be an official affiliate charity for the event. http://www.thegreatwestrun.co.uk/
The reason for me taking on this crazy challenge?
As I am sure you all know THHN offers free action packed holidays to a wide scope of families who are affected by serious illness and bereavement - people who are living nightmares! It offers them a positive distraction and quality family time together - giving them memories that they will treasure forever, because sadly for many of the families THHN has helped - it has been their last holiday as a complete family, before losing a beloved family member.
Taking THHN's work further still unfortunately costs money and thanks to generous fundraisers we can now offer families grants to cover their travelling expenses. We have several big projects in the pipeline that will all cost money and need funding. The biggest of which is to build or renovate a bungalow and kit it out with all the specialist equipment needed for families who have a child or parent with high care needs - for example wet room, hoists, electric beds, ramps and full disabled facilities.
I cannot tell you just how passionate I am about this project, we sadly have to turn away many families as we cannot offer them the level of support they need - please help me make that change!
I would be ever so grateful if you could please help by contributing a few pennies towards helping THHN take its work even further still - and help more families to make those all important memories and become a memory maker yourself!
With heartfelt thanks
