Story

It's time again to start the horrible task of getting into some kind of shape for the next bike adventure!  Oh how I rue a late night conversation with our intrepid leader Rod Smallwood which has taken me to new levels of pain and tiredness...offroad in Cuba and into the desert in Morocco.  Our next ride is in January in Cambodia to raise, hopefully with your assistance, much needed funds for three Children's Charities -Teenage Cancer Trust, ChildLine and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy. In still difficult economic times Charities tend to suffer greatly so its even more important that we help as much as we can. As is the case with all our Truants I will be paying all costs related to the ride personally, so every penny donated goes to the Charities. Nordoff Robbins collect and account all donations before sharing equally with the other two charities.

We set off on Jan 24 2014 for Simm Reip via Singapore , then up early the next day to spend the morning choosing and checking our bikes, which are supplied, and add necessities like a gel saddle which in my experience is even more important than a water bottle.  Over the following 48 hours we will cycle over 100 miles in the heat and humidity after which any survivors will take a deep bath, apply various creams and perhaps a few celebratory beers.

Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.
