MMA challenge · 26 June 2016
Well the truth of this story is two fold, firstly having lost 5 stone in weight, I knew I needed to tone up and get fit and secondly, I turn 40 this year and needed to do something to make sure I didn't slide into my 40th year in a dressing gown and comfortable slippers. Always looking for a way to do things disgracefully.
Honestly, after looking for the most extreme thing an unfit nearly 40 year old could do, I'm delighted I went with MMA. I am now addicted because not only is it physically and mentally challenging, but the things you can learn are pretty much limitless. I am meeting lots of really lovely people who are kind and patient with someone who hasn't got a clue what they are doing, which is a massive help. I'm on a steep slope of learning during these 8 weeks, training 5 or 6 days a week in either MMA or Muay Thai and I am genuinely loving it.
Two things I have learnt so far, I bruise easily on the outside, but I am harder on the inside than I ever thought I was.
I'm so happy you've taken the time to read through this and I hope you'll be giving a little something to the Make A Wish foundation to support the efforts I am putting in to get ready for the fight, and my participation in the fight itself of course 😁
