Story
The Lea womens squad has organised an 'ambitious' sponsored Row from our LEA boathouse in Clapton E5 to Henley on Thames.
The row will take place over three days, rotating rowers through two recreational coxed quads. The plan is to arrive whilst Henley Royal Regatta is in full swing.
It's a 100km, against the tide, through many locks, along the famous Boat Race course, pass Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Kew, Twickenham, , Maidenhead and Marlow.
We will arrive on day 3 of Henley Royal Regatta (4th July.) I can only hope we'll still able to maintain our technique (100km on) as we paddle past the start line!!!

The reason we’re doing this? We need to raise money for the club redevelopment - a £1 million in 12 months - Hackney Council will ONLY renew our lease IF we can raise enough funds to redevelop the site. Plans have been drawn up to turn the LEA RC boathouse into a multifunctional site that will service the wider local community, enabling everyone from all walks of life (including the disabled), to enjoy rowing on the river LEA.
Without this redevelopment money the council will not renew our lease.
We are raising money for the charity Youth Experience in Sport, which gives funds to the redevelopment of the LEA RC.
Any donation (however small) and / or word of support is greatly appreciated. ;D
Please do drop in and visit us at the club!! We always like to see new faces (and we love to stop for a cup of tea!) All welcome.
