Story
After a few G&Ts, a bet with a mate and a dare from the kids, I've signed up to run the London Marathon. After my daughter Issy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and needed a bone marrow transplant, Anthony Nolan were able to find her wonderful donor. But lots of people are still waiting. £100 pays to recruit and maintain a potential lifesaver to the register.
Along with a group of friends, I set up the South Dorset Friends of Anthony Nolan, raising funds and awareness....but I wanted to personally do something.
I'm dreadful at running. Really terrible. So this is a proper challenge! I'm asking for sponsorship as this is a great charity doing great things...and you'll be sponsoring me not just for the 26.2 miles I WILL run on the day but for all the training runs in the rain, when I'd rather be on the sofa, all the pints in the pub I WON'T be drinking as I'll be running the next morning, and all the injuries I will almost certainly inflict on myself through sheer lack of co-ordination!
I'll keep you posted with my training...so if you can spare a few quid and would like to bung it my way, I'd be very grateful -and so will all those people waiting for a bone marrow transplant.
