Story
Last year as a family we were devastated to find out that our darling Mum/Granny had terminal cancer of the Gall bladder. Until then she was incredibly fit and healthy and she lived life to the full; she was quite simply a wonderful lady who was loved by so many.
We were completely heartbroken at this news and vowed to be there for her, as she had always been for us, until the end. This was emotionally and physically challenging but we wouldn't have had it any other way. We supported each other and had the most wonderful help from our extended family and our friends. Towards the end however we were completely exhausted, both emotionally and physically. Caring for a loved one and watching them lose their fight is the most dreadful thing to endure, never more so than in the middle of the night when it is your turn to stay over to care for them; you feel so alone and frightened, so overwhelmingly sad, so completely exhausted and all the while your heart is slowly breaking.
This our lovely family and friends is when Joseph Weld Hospice stepped in and saved us! They wrapped their arms around our beloved Mum/Granny and around us also. They gave our Mum/Granny back her dignity, took her pain away, treated her like the wonderful lady she was and made her feel as if she was having, in her words, "A little holiday with my girls." For us, we had a few weeks of being daughters and grandchildren again instead of carers. We slept, we ate, we spent time together and we made wonderful memories which we will cherish forever.
Joseph weld is an amazing place, the staff are Angels and the care is outstanding. Our Mum/Granny loved it there and her smiles helped us to survive the most dreadful time. Please donate generously and help the Hospice to care for others and support their families at a time in their lives when they are desperate and need those loving arms around them.
In August we will be climbing three mountains, Ben Nevis (4,409 feet), Scaffell Pike (3,209 feet) and Snowdon (3.560 feet) - a challenge for us but one we will get through together because we are family, we love each other and we support each other through everything life throws our way .
Thank you so much for your generosity.
Love from, Lorraine, Audrey, Maria, Billie and Camilla. xxxxxxx
