Story
Hello! I'm Lorraine. I'm a ukulele teacher: http://www.learntouke.co.uk/ and play in a band called KaraUke. We'll be at Bestival 6.30pm Friday and Saturday in the Knees Up Tent. Come for a sing! http://www.bestival.net/#/arenas/the-knees-up
If I hit my target, please still donate. Everyone else has nearly doubled theirs. I won't win on speed, but I'd like to raise a big chunk for BHF!
I usually steer well clear of any physical activity, especially swimming as I'm not very good at it - I only learned to front crawl in 2008, and now I'm going to swim across a very busy shipping channel, instead of using a perfectly good ferry to get to Bestival, on Thursday 9 September 2010.
Yes! That's right! I'm swimming to Bestival 2010, from Stokes Bay, near Gosport, Hants, to Ryde, on the Isle of Wight. http://www.bestival.net/#/what-else/swim-to-bestival-2010
I was going to swim in 2008 - but gale force 9 winds made that impossible, so this year I finally face the challenge that I learned to front crawl for!
The money you donate will go directly to the British Heart Foundation. My Dad had a heart attack, which made me assess my lifestyle and take on this swim. BHF are the UK's number 1 heart charity and provided information and support when we needed it: https://www.bhf.org.uk/news_and_campaigning/press_office/media_toolkit/heart_disease_stats/bhf_fast_facts.aspx
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
If I survive, I'll see you around in September!
Lorraine.
