Story
On 27th September Emily, Gemma and Tom are riding from London to Bristol in memory of Emily’s son George who died in 2009 aged 14 months. In memory of George, his parents set up a charity – The George Oliver Foundation. George’s Foundation funds projects with other charities working with disadvantaged children, in some small way we hope this continues the love all that his family and friends still have for George. Losing George changed all of our lives and we hope by doing this ride and supporting The George Oliver Foundation we can add to the good things that are happening in George’s name.
We’ll be covering 160 miles in 3 days, all self-supported (carrying all our kit with us and mending our own punctures etc along the way....eek). We’ll also be riding on the official National Cycle Route 4 which takes us along the banks of the Thames and the Kennet & Avon Canal so we’re in for a bumpy ride on rough terrain. Judging by the weather this year we’re not exactly expecting blue skies and sunshine at the end of September either!
We hope you think this is enough of a challenge to merit some encouragement from you! You can read more about The George Oliver Foundation and the projects that it supports at www.georgesfoundation.org . This year George’s Foundation is supporting War Child, Carefree Kids, Skill Force and Volunteer Reading Help. Any donation you make will make a huge difference to children who really need help. We are very grateful for your support. Thank you!
