Story
There's nothing like proving your mettle to your newsroom colleagues by leaping out of an aeroplane for such a worthy cause as Prospect Hospice.
And then I remembered Bridget Jones, with whom I appear to have more in common with than any other journalist real or imagined. Including Tin Tin's dog, Snowy.
Now, this isn't a good thing. Especially when your boss tells you that not only have you signed yourself up for a sky dive, but there will be lots of cameras at the bottom waiting for you to land.
I may also have to report live during free-fall.
Anyone else hear those alarm bells?
Add to this the necessity to shift three stone for the privilege.
But, it is the Swindon Advertiser's 160th birthday. And to celebrate we are trying to raise £160,000 to give back into the community which has helped us reach this ripe old age. And it is for Prospect Hospice, who just happen to ease the pain of hundreds of families in and around Swindon in desperate need of help and support at the most difficult times in their lives.
So dig deep in your pockets and help us to help those families who need it most.
And sponsor me to survive this summer.

EVENTS:
- Parachute for Prospect on August 31 at Redlands Air Field. I will hurl myself out of a plane from 10,000ft into the Wiltshire air space for your money.
-Rotary Club Swindon Phoenix’s Dragon Boat Race at Coate Water on June 29. I will use my pitiful lack of upper body strength to power Editorial along in an epic Advertorial v Editorial Race. Sponsor me and I may remember to do some training.
-Starlight Walk on June 28. I will blindly scramble through a walk under the cloudless summer skies. Give a penny for the number of times I will fall in a bush - it'll soon rack up the cash.
