Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am going to be swimming from Swanage Pier to Bournemouth (either Branksome Chine or Bournemouth Pier) across Poole Bay on 19 September 2009 to raise money for the Lewis Manning Hospice.
It is a distance of approximately 7 miles across open sea and there is likely to be big waves and strong tides.
The furthest I have ever swum before is about 2 miles so this is a serious challenge for me. I expect it to take about three or four hours although getting the tides right is going to be crucial!
I will also be joined by Joe Poole who is raising money for Dorset Air Ambulance, Paul Williams, who is raising money for the Eve Appeal and Steve Williams of Swanage Lifeboat Crew.
Lewis Manning is a hospice in Poole overlooking Poole Harbour. It provides palliative care for cancer sufferers. They currently need to raise funds for a building project to add two new wings to the Hospice to allow for overnight stays. It is therefore a great local charity and a worthy cause and I hope you will help me to reach my target of 1000 pounds.
