Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2016 · 29 May 2016 ·

We are the official charity of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, helping our NHS go further at The James Cook University Hospital, Friarage Hospital and community health services across Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Hambleton & Richmondshire. We help our local NHS go further!

Story

Baby Harvey was almost 3 years in the making. After 2 years and 4 unsuccessful cycles of fertility meds, we were lucky enough to be offered IVF at James Cook.

Anyone who has struggled with infertility, or who has been through the IVF process will know that it is no easy journey. The IVF team were there from start to finish offering emotional and practical support throughout the 'roller coaster' of fertility tests, daily hormone injections, bloods, invasive procedures and counselling, through to our pregnancy test date and that magical first scan where we saw his heartbeat for the first time...

Infertility is not often talked about and it wasn't until we struggled to conceive that I realised how many people are affected by this.

Words cannot express how grateful we are to everyone who has been a part of our IVF journey, so we would like to give something back to go towards someone else's treatment...On May 29th I shall be donning my running sneaks (and my South Tees Hospital running vest) to attempt to complete the epic 26 mile Edinburgh Marathon to raise as much money as possible for The infertility fund (F106) at James Cook University Hospital. We hope in doing this it will also make people aware of the amazing job the IVF team do, without which I might never have experienced the gift of being 'a Mummy'.

Any donations no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and I'll do my best to make you all proud on race day.

Many thanks,
Lins, Mike (my husband) and baby Harvey Xx
