Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Lindsay and I have Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. It is a genetic condition that affects my lungs and liver. I have 25% lung capacity and require a transplant.
I am rock climbing up and down the UK from April to September 2014 to heighten awareness of this condition and to give talks along the way. I am attached to oxygen but do not let this stop me. I train five times a week to strengthen myself for this 'marathon' I have set myself.
There is medicine out there that could save the lives of sufferers. It is available in many other European countries but the UK have not licensed it here, predominantly because of the costs involved.
We are fighting for our right to live by campaigning and bringing our situation to the attention of Health ministers and the like. We are also fighting for our children. This is hereditary.
Unfortunately it can take an average of 7 years to be diagnosed and yet it could be detected via the heel prick test at birth.
Please help us fight for the medicine that we need by donating so that we can fund our continued journey for life.
