Now in its 6th year, Life Cycle 6 promises to be our biggest and best yet. This year we celebrate the return of the endurance ride. Thirteen riders will join the Vice-Chancellor for a 1400 mile four points of the compass challenge over 16 days starting at Lizard Point in Cornwall (South), to Lowestoft Ness (East), Ardnamurchan (West), finishing at Dunnet Head in Scotland (North). The event will be joined by the ever popular 200 mile Lochs & Glens route from Inverness to Glasgow, followed by The Way Of The Roses route from Bridlington to Morecambe. Our Community Day will also be back in 2016 with four circular cycling routes at Lakeside, Nottingham on Sunday September 4.
Our target is to raise £1million to enable the University of Nottingham to detect cancer early, stop cancer from spreading and develop personalised treatment for cancer sufferers. Nottingham is home to the world's first blood test to detect lung cancer and the research platform is now ready to target breast and other solid cancers. With our Breast Cancer Research Team of the Year in place, we are ready to make a genuine difference in combating this disease and developing effective treatment for cancer sufferers.
Managing breast cancer and its consequences for patients is an increasingly pressing challenge. Every year nearly 58,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK and 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
Over the first five Nottingham Life Cycles, the team rode 5,500 miles, raising more than £1.8million to support a range of causes, an extraordinary total only possible by the equally extraordinary support from so many.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted e mails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the University. Thank you for your generosity.
