Story
1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancers treated in Salisbury have increased by nearly 40% in the last two years. Salisbury District Hospital’s specialist breast team offer excellent care but the number of patients they see is growing fast. Now they urgently need a dedicated Breast Unit to provide even better, quicker and more dignified treatment for over 4,500 local women, and a small number of men, each year.
Having a dedicated Breast Unit will allow patients to get same day diagnosis, quicker access to treatment with state-of-the-art equipment in the best possible environment.
So my little bit to help is a sponsored walk from my house in Durrington to the beach at Mudeford in one day. Along the way I'll pass Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral, Fordingbridge and Christchurch priory. In total I'll have walked 49 miles and hopefully raised some money for a worthy cause.
Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated and will fuel me on when the legs and feet get tired.
If you'd like to join me on the day at any point feel free, be lovely to see you. The walk will take place on Saturday 8th August. I'll be leaving me house at 5am and aim to complete the walk within 16 hours. Once the walk is done I plan to have a dip in the ocean and then have a pint on the seafront.
