Story
I did it! I cycled 100 miles!
I set off on Sunday with 3 local pedellin' pals and we suffered a puncture just a couple of miles in. Still, with that fixed we fought on. Just 98 miles to go! The sun came out and I got up the big climb onto Exmoor, then a second 2 mile climb out of Simonsbath. Fortunately the Ladies of Force Cancer kept us going with tea and homemade cake stops every 20 miles. Very welcome. The final 40 miles were the toughest. Nagging aches and pains became sweat-inducing agonies, even small hills appeared as mountains to climb. The worst battles were fought in our minds, as we struggled with crazed thoughts of a nice hot bath, followed by lying on a comfy sofa, drinking tea and watching poor quality telly. But finally we rolled into the finish to claim our fake gold medallion prize, and a well earned pint of cider. Phew!
