Story
Hello,
I have always been intrigued by ultra-runners and endurance running as you really get to know yourself. It’s about the adventure and the challenge of pushing the human body beyond reality.
After a year of running I decided that it’s about time I chase my dream of becoming an ultra-runner and I signed up for the Royal Parks Ultra Marathon in London. It’s ‘only’ 50K but it’s my first ultra and I decided to run it for my late uncle, Mirci, who was, is and will always be one of my role models. He died in May 2010 after a 5-year-long fight with cancer. A very successful businessman who, despite all the odds, stayed on his feet and supported his family and friends every time we needed help.
During his long fight with cancer he proved that everything is possible depending on how much you want it; for the second time he learnt how to ride a bike again and cycled up the mountains in our city.
I remember him as a person who knew how to turn what seemed to be a big problem so small that it almost resolved itself.
Everyone in our small city knew Mirci as a person who they could turn to when they needed help or advice. He supported many people financially or some other way but he never said ‘NO’ to anyone.
He would have celebrated his 50 birthday and as a thank you for him being in my life I will run every kilometre just for him.
I’m currently raising money for Macmillan charity which supports people with cancer. I know Mirci would love this idea and he would have helped too. I know a £1,000 is nothing in comparison to what a person with cancer goes through but if it helps to ease the pain or make someone’s even the smallest dream come true it’s definitely worth it.
I’m really thankful for all your support and donations!!!
