Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for The Albion Foundation by taking part in the 152 mile bike ride part of the 2015 Tri Albion Challenge.

As a number of you will be aware both my daughters play for the West Bromwich Albion Girls Centre of Excellence. The Girls Centre of Excellence is just part of the great work The Albion Foundation does in the area.  The Albion Foundation is a leading charity that works in partnership with the West Bromwich Albion Football Club to make a difference in the communities they serve.

The Tri Albion Challenge consists of three challenges of which I am taking part in the first part – a 152 mile cycle ride from Southampton FC to the Hawthorns Stadium.  I will be cycling all 152 miles.  I will be completing the ride with a team of cyclists who include Club Legend Brendon Bateson, GB Blind Paralympian Darren Harris and local blind celebrity Dave Heeley.

There are three legs – the first leg will be kicking off on Thursday 26th February and we will bike the 152 miles from Southampton to The Hawthorns, to eventually arrive on Saturday 28th February, in time for the WBA vs Southampton fixture on the same day.

Full details of the Tri Albion Challenge are:

·         Bike:  152 mile ride from Southampton FC to the Hawthorns over 3 days.

·         Walk:  The WBA Blind Football team will walk around ALL the schools in the Sandwell area.

·         Run:  Blind Dave will take on his most daring challenge to date – The Marathon des Sables – 156 miles in 5 days across the Sahara Desert.

The Albion Foundation’s work has three main areas of focus:

·  Sport for all – providing access to football and other sports for children and young people in the community.

·  Education & Inclusion – our Foundation school works with some of the hardest to reach young people struggling with mainstream education. We re-engage these young people back into their education, develop their skills and prepare them for their next steps in education, employment and training.

· Disability Sport – our disability sports programmes provides our disabled communities the opportunity to participate in sporting activities from entry level .

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  This is a charity I am passionate about having seen first hand the great work they do in the wider community.  I would be most grateful of any support you can offer.  This will be used to further assist in the work they can do.
