After ten months training we have finally done it : ) 30 hours of gruelling heat and slow water led to a lot of pain, fatigue and injury!! We battled on with amazing support from our crew, friends and family!! Took 6 hours longer than expected but we got there.... Thank you all for your generous donations and support!

On 23rd April 2011 Myself and Billy will be attempting the Devizes to westminster international canoe race, 125 miles straight through and expected to take 24 hours. The DW is the longest canoe race of it's kind in the world and pushes competitors to physical and mental limits. http://www.dwrace.org.uk/ There will be ourselves plus our six support crew, Craig, Sue, Caroline, Georgie, Neil and Ric who have kindly offered their time and support to give us the best chance of completing this challenge. 8 months ago i had never paddled, Billy asked me to partner him in the DW and we have trained hard since then, through a long cold winter and giving up much of our time to give us the best chance of finishing the race.
We have decided to raise money for The forces children's trust, a fantastic charity charity helping to ease the pain of many families losses. The trust provides positive experiences such as days out to theatres and holidays to children and families allowing them to move forward in their lives.
The challenge is pretty intense and there are factors out of our control which could stop us completing the event such as injury, damage to the boat or severe weather conditions. We will put the effort in and with lady luck on our side we will finish in good shape. Either way your generous donations will go to this fantastic charity should you chose to donate.
Please see our photos and video to see us in training.
Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated!!!
UPDATE 14th April
We paddled on Monday for 11 miles and felt very good, just need to find the other 114 miles now : ) We are planning our last trining paddle for tomorrow, then a week of carb loading ready for next Saturday. Thank you all for you generous donations, it is much appreciated by us both.
If you do not wish to donate through Just Giving please e-mail me and i can add you to a spread sheet and will collect cash on completion of the event.
