Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page. As some of you may already be aware, my Grandad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in spring 2013. However, his symptoms begun well before this and a distinct lack of awareness of the condition resulted in a delay in his diagnosis. The symptoms of Lewy Body dementia are linked with Parkinsons, which results in both memory problems, hallucinations and reduced motor function. This, as with many other long term conditions results in distress for the family. My Grandad was hospitalised for a long period in early 2013, which was extremely upsetting for all involved.
I have decided to run the London Marathon to raise awareness of this common form of dementia. Hopefully making more people aware of its symptoms will prevent a long and drawn out diagnosis, and get the patient and family support as soon as possible. The Lewy Body Soceity is a fantastic charity that helps to do just this, and all money that is raised goes straight to helping families such as mine. Both myself and the charity would be extremely grateful for any donations to help this fantastic cause! Thank you in advance.
