Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When my uncle lost his marbles, he was found by a taxi driver army-crawling across the road with his face blacked up,
convinced he was back behind enemy lines in WW2. He was placed in a
care home for his own safety, the kind with doors that lock by keypad
from the outside - and within a few days had managed to hotwire the lock
from the inside, set off the fire alarms and escape - he was eventually
found trying to climb the fence out.
We were relatively lucky
in that the story still raises a smile. Most aren't so lucky, and have
to watch their loved ones slowly lose pieces of themselves until there
is nothing left of the person they knew but a shell. Harder yet, there
is as yet no cure for dementia.
So, if you've got a spare
couple of pennies, doesn't have to be a lot, please help them out with
the research they fund and the care they provide to both those suffering
dementia and the loved ones they will be leaving behind.
