#InspiredbyHannah - Hannah Francis has inspired thousands of people including those who she has never met. She achieved so much in her tragically short life. I want to raise money for the charity that she set up, 'Willberry Wonder Pony' and challenge myself to compete in her chosen sport, Eventing.
The next year will be tough. In order for me to achieve my ultimate goal I will be enduring many other challenges along the way. One of the biggest obstacles that I will need to overcome is conquering my jumping nerves. I will need to overcome demons both real and imagined, and more importantly find a pair of brave pants ! Alongside this due to being in a new and intense job I will be fighting to strike a balance between my work and leisure time. But these struggles are nothing compared to what Hannah endured on a daily basis.
Last winter I had a fall whilst jumping my very exuberant and overly keen youngster, which resulted in me causing injury to my lower vertebrae. However I was one of the lucky ones and managed to walk away without any fractures or permanent damage. Although it was a minor injury the damage to my confidence was somewhat longer lasting and I seriously contemplated giving up jumping and becoming a full time dressage diva.
Riding in a BE80 event will be a big hurdle for me and Finlay. It may also be worth mentioning that we have never attempted to do an unaffiliated event yet alone a British Eventing one ! I hope people will sponsor me to tackle and support me through this personal challenge.
