Story
Some update: we made it!!! We reached the top of Mount Toubkal on Thursday the 15th of May at 7 am and, importantly, we also got back down to Marrakesh in one piece the day after. All the team (12 fantastic people, including scientists, AICR staff and supporters) made it to the top. It was an amazing achievement, but also one of the hardest things we have ever done. I hope you'll be proud of us as much as I am and that you will keep supporting us in our fight against cancer. Thank you all for your help!
Just to remind you, this was my original message on this page:
I'm doing this challenge because I met too many wonderful people that died of cancer and I don't want to forget them. I usually fight my battle in the lab, doing research, but I feel that even that sometimes is not enough. This time I want to do something different: I want to help raise money so that other excellent researchers can join the fight as well. About this particular challenge, what I can tell you is that I'm not the strongest athlete, I hate being cold and I'm afraid I don't even like mountains too much! Please, help me do it, help me with your support, help me to make it meaningful.
P.S: I'm doing this in memory of Andy Calver, an extraordinary man that will be forever missed. I believe he would have liked these mountains.
