Story
LOL Mum and the Darlings have decided to take part in the SHINE London Marathon again this year, after feeling so inspired by the experience of walking through London during the night last year with over 10,000 other people, all determined to make a difference to the lives of others who have been touched by cancer. We haven’t managed to persuade The Chief to join us this year, although he is giving it some serious thought for 2013! Instead he will be a valuable member of the Team, providing logistics backup in the form of taxi service, motivation, and refreshments!
We are taking on the challenge in memory of so many dear family and friends who have lost their battle with cancer over the years. This year especially top of mind is a lovely bubbly lady, who died suddenly in May following a long brave battle with a rare form of lymphoma and then several months of remission. However, the tremendous efforts of Cancer Research UK, have meant that several friends have survived their illness and we celebrate the research which made that possible.
We will be walking through London from Battersea Power Station on the night of Saturday 29 September 2012, alongside some people with tragic stories of misery and loss, some with joyful thanks for loved ones who are still with us, but all united in the determination to raise as much as possible to donate to Cancer Research UK. Every little donation helps make a big difference and gives hope that one day, cancer won’t be such a frightening word.
We have been given so much generous support on a personal level which has given us such incentive to keep up the training, this page is for those online friends who have asked how they can support us.
Many thanks
LOL Mum xx
