After a regular checkup to my GP last year I was told I had high blood pressure and even higher cholesterol levels. I was advised by my GP to start exercising regularly and to change my diet.
I am 43 this year and one of the things I kept thinking about for weeks after, was what happened to my father.
17 years ago, my father passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly when he was only 50 years young, due a massive heart attack he had sustained.
Although my father looked extremely fit and very well on the outside, on the inside it was a different story which ultimately cost him his life… it was this that led ME to the decision to change my lifestyle for the better.
10 months on, training 3 times a week at my local boxing club with a very healthy and nutritional diet I thought it time I participated in some organised runs and at the same time I could give something back.
This will be my first organised race I have participated in and it is fitting that the charity I chose to raise money for was the British Heart Foundation in memory of my late father 'Gary Middleton'.
Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer.
I hope to raise £1000.00 which will help towards powering life-saving research and Help keep more families together.
I have four weeks to prepare for the 10k race, I went out on my first road run in over 15 years on Sunday 20th April and managed to complete 5.7 miles, although I could not walk for 3 days after I will be continuing to go running at least twice a week leading up to the race.
Your donations would mean a lot to myself and my family and it is for a great cause.
Thank you for your support
