reuben's retreat is

A charity in memory of a beautiful, cheeky, cuddly, loving, and gorgeous chappy went to heaven aged 23 months. This charity will work so hard to help families who find themselves in the situation Reuben’s family have found themselves in. Reuben’s Retreat's mission is to provide a facility within the countryside in the North West of England region that offers self-catering accommodation with recreational activities for families who are impacted by their children having life threatening or life limiting illnesses. In addition Reuben’s Retreat will also support those who have lost a child due to illness by providing counselling & support to the family
Reuben was  a toddler who was taken to hospital when he fell ill on holiday was diagnosed with a brain tumour – and died just days later.

Little Reuben Graham was in Devon with his parents and four-year-old brother Isaac when he complained of feeling sick.

Mum Nicola and dad Mike, from Tameside, took him to a nearby hospital – expecting to be given antibiotics and sent home.

Just hours later, doctors delivered the devastating news that Reuben, who would have been two on Monday, had a rare and aggressive brain tumour.  The atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumour has few symptoms and affects just a handful of children.

Reuben was airlifted to a specialist neurological unit in Bristol, but despite emergency surgery his organs were failing and he had two heart attacks.

On August 21 – a week after his diagnosis – the heartbreaking decision was made to turn off his life support machine. Reuben died in his mother’s arms.
