Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. PLEASE READ..
As many of you may know, I worked at Ty Olwen for several weeks as part of my nursing degree. During my time there, many of the patients and their families touched my heart.
Ty Olwen is a hospice at the base of Morriston Hospital, looking after patients with life limiting diseases. The nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, health care assistants, OT's and the volunteers are absolute angels. I have never come across a team like the one in Ty Olwen, and was so blessed to be a part of it for just a few weeks.
Working at Ty Olwen, I became fond of lots of my patients and the nature of the nursing there, it touched my heart and has made me realise it is definitely the route I'd like to go down when I qualify. It opened my eyes to how cancer and other palliative illnesses really affects the patients and their families and made me want to give to the charity, so here is the start of my fundraising.
To keep this wonderful place open, and keep the facilities the patients require and the small things that make it feel like a home, it costs £400,000 a year to run. This is all charity lead money, and although I am doing the race for life.. I know that unfortunately, the patients don't see much of the money at cancer research.. and at Ty Olwen they do.
Understanding that, unfortunately, Ty Olwen has been and may be a god send for myself and many of you out there in the future for yourselves/ your loved ones. I ask you to donate to the most wonderful cause.
It'd be so greatly appreciated & is going to a fantastic cause,
Thank you
Kirstie
