Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Fancied a bit of a bike ride this summer as a bit of a personal challenge. The plan is to get the ferry from Poole to St Malo and over two weeks cycle the 1000miles to Nice, on the Med coast.
As I want to do this anyway it seemed like a good idea to try and raise a bit of cash along the way, so any donations will go to a local charity, the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
John was a young officer in the Royal Marines who tragically died on Operations in Afghanistan on 30th March 2008. He was from Ferndown, Dorset and his legacy is the foundation setup by his parents Pete and Linda. Do visit the website to find out more.
As a family we have an affinity for the Marines, indeed a family member is still a serving officer with them and we know the strength of fraternity and brotherhood within the organisation.
The JTYAF raises money to enable young people to work towards fulfilling their potential through adventurous activities. As a teacher, I get to see the personal development offered by these activities such as D of E, CCF, ACF etc etc, so it was a natural charity to support.
Thanks very much for your help.
